The president Shavkat Mirziyoyev has set the goal of reducing losses and erecting power-efficient equipment at large industrial enterprises. the chairman of Uzbekneftegaz Bakhodir Siddiko told the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel today.

According to him, nowadays Uzbekneftegaz consumes about 85 MWh of electricity from external networks. “In order to switch to renewable sources, we have already set up capacities for generating 29 MW of solar power,” Bakhodir Siddikov added.

In addition, for stable operation of enterprises and preventing emergency shutdowns, Uzbekneftegaz is eyeing to complete 95 MW total capacity storage system projects, he added.

“We are working with suppliers and by the end of October we will have erected an additional 95 MW of storage capacity in the Uzbekneftegaz system,” the chairman Siddikov said.

He also reported that about 33 thousand employees work in the Uzbekneftegaz system. There is a project to install solar panels and boilers on house rooftops of the company's employees.

"We decided to provide each employee with an interest-free loan of up to 30 million soums with a three-year installment plan. We have all the legal grounds for this. I am confident that our employees will be the first to install solar power generation systems and will set an example for others," he emphasized.

The acting chairman of Uztransgaz Askar Isakov also spoke about plans to switch to alternative power sources.

"Our company has been given a directive to gradually transfer compressor stations to renewable power, as well as determine the volumes of future resource savings," he noted.

According to Isakov, in order to save natural gas, compressor stations are planned to be gradually switched to electricity.

"After the completion of electrification, we will be able to achieve significant savings. In particular, we have set ourselves the goal to reduce the share of consumed electricity by at least 20%,” he said.

The chairman of BOD of Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex, Abdulla Khursanov said that nowadays the enterprise consumes 3 billion kWh of electricity per year. By 2030, taking into account the commissioning of new production capacities, this figure will reach 7.6 billion MWh.

The plant has completed a power audit of 12 enterprises. As a result, projects were formed that require 198 billion soums of investment, and they will pay off within three years.

In addition, a project to build a 150 MW PV plant and a 75 MW power storage system is being implemented in the Akhangaran district. The president gave a directive to speed up the implementation of these projects.

The Water Resources Minister Shavkat Khamrayev previously stated that in the coming years, the industry will cease to be a burden on the country's power system and will also begin to produce electricity. In 2025 alone, the industry plans to save 340 million kWh of electricity by upgrading old pumps.
