High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell will visit Kazakhstan from 16 to 17 November and Uzbekistan from 17 to 19 November, the press service of the EU Delegation reported.

Its is aimed at strengthening and advancing the Eu’s bilateral and regional ties.

Josep Borrell will chair the 18th EU-Central Asian Ministerial Meeting in Samarkand.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to intensify cooperation with the countries of the region in areas such as security, trade and investment, transport, green energy and sustainable growth, improved communication, as well as closer cooperation in education, science and innovation.

The ministers will also exchange views on regional challenges, including the situation in Afghanistan and the consequences of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The following day, on 18 November, the head of European diplomacy will co-host a conference on connectivity between the EU and Central Asia: the "Global Gateway".

The conference will cover three topics: digital communication, transport communication and energy connection between Central Asia and the European Union. “In this context, the EU, together with international financial institutions, will seek to stimulate investment in the region,” the message says.

On the sidelines of the conference, Josep Borrell is scheduled to meet with the President of Uzbekistan and the foreign ministers of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan to discuss bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

Earlier Josep Borrell in his article touched upon the Eu’s ties with the region of Central Asia and its countries.
