President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today received credentials from the new Ambassadors of the Republic of Korea Kim Hee Sung, of Kyrgyzstan Musa Jamanbaev, of Algeria Boumedian Gennad, of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov and of the United States Jonathan Henick, the presidential press service reported.

Reportedly, the head of state congratulated the ambassadors on the start of the posting in Uzbekistan and wished them success in their responsible and honorable duties. He also urged diplomats to "direct their diplomatic talent, activity and initiative" to strengthen cooperation with Uzbekistan, to tap the great potential and search for new growth points.

In his remarks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored that in line with the New Uzbekistan’s Development Strategy, "large-scale and irreversible reforms are being carried out In Uzbekistan which are aimed at building a strong democratic rule of law, a free civil society".

“In the backdrop of a controversial geopolitical situation in the world, Uzbekistan is pursuing a balanced foreign policy based on trust and respect, mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties with all countries,” the press service added.

“We have set a goal to double the gross domestic product in the next 10 years,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. “We expect to increase the volume of investments to $120 billion over the next 5 years, including at least $70 billion of foreign investment. Our country must be open to the world, and world markets must be open to us.”
