The Durango State Police rescued seven Uzbek citizens who were being held against their will on a farm in Gómez Palacio, demanding $1,200 to let them out.
The Secretary of Public Security, reported that a woman was arrested in the events and that she was already integrating the corresponding investigation folder in the first instance for the crime of illegal deprivation of liberty.
The events occurred in a property located in the Villa Nápoles district of this municipality.
The officers received a report on the possible commission of a crime at the scene and responded to the call.
Upon arriving at the home, they found five males, one female and one minor, originally from Uzbekistan.
Through a translator, they stated that they took a bus in Mexico City bound for Baja California and from there to the border with the United States, stopping at Gómez Palacio, where they took temporary refuge on said farm.
Once there, three subjects demanded the payment of $ 1,200 in exchange for letting them continue on their way. Not being able to pay them, they were detained in the property under the care of a woman, while they looked for a way to get hold of the aforementioned amount.
It was thanks to a complaint to the 911 emergency system, that the State Police and the personnel of the different security corporations were alerted.
It was reported that the seven rescued people are in good health.
The detained woman, named María Guadalupe "N", 32 years old, was identified as an accomplice of the individuals who demanded the money.
Due to the foregoing, the agents made her present to the Public Prosecutor's Office together with a motorcycle that she had in her possession, for the responsibility that results from her.
Finally, it was indicated that the victims remained under the protection of the National Institute of Migration.
