Uzbekistan has expanded the list of foreign TV channels authorized for broadcasting in the country, the Information and Mass Communications Agency reported.

Reportedly, in order to ensure the right of citizens to receive objective information in full, and to expand the their sources, the list of TV channels has been increased from 50 to 192.

The list includes 35 news and socio-political channels, 37 – for movies and series, 34 – for science, 27 - for children and teenagers, 20 - sports and 39 - music and entertainment channels.

The TV channels included in the updated list are available in the networks of pay TV operators and providers (via private broadcast, cable and IP TV, mobile communications, satellite networks and Internet platforms).

Broadcasting of foreign channels on the territory of Uzbekistan is subject to copyright and related rights on the basis of national legislation and international legal acts and requirements, with the entering into of agreements with the owners of foreign content or with their consent.

Earlier in early November BBC, CNN, Bloomberg, France 24, Chinese CGTN, Turkish TRT Avaz, Belarus 24 and others were added to the packages of cable TV operators. Prior to that, mainly Russian TV channels were available.
