Maiden freight train departed from Sergeli station, Tashkent Uzbekistan on December 16along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the press service of the Uztemiryulkonteyner company reported.
The train will move along the over 4000 km Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Bulgaria route.
The train consists of 46 cars and 91 transport containers with a cargo of copper concentrate from the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Kombinat. The end point of his route is the Bulgarian port of Burgas.
The train was organized in cooperation with foreign partners from Turkmenistan (TLCT company), Azerbaijan (ADY Container) and Georgia (GR Logistics and Terminals).
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, is designed to bring goods from Central Asia to Europe. It runs from the Chinese-Kazakh border through Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and further to Europe.
Transportation involves rail and sea transport. The total length of the entire route is 11 thousand km. TMTM started operating in 2017. The Union consists of 8 carrier countries: China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, China, Poland, Romania, Ukraine and Turkey. Uzbekistan joined TITM in 2021 as an associate member.
