Uzbekistan delegation, led by the director of the National Narcotics Control Information and Analysis Center under the Cabinet of Ministers, attended the Vienna meeting of the advisory group of the Paris Pact Initiative, the most important structure for combating the illegal circulation of Afghan opiates in Afghanistan, and the session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (UNODC).
During the events and meetings, the parties considered combating the illegal circulation of narcotics in the country, the work being carried out within the framework of cross-border cooperation, international projects and programs were discussed.
Uzbekistan’s position on Afghanistan was announced, information about the activity was given on the support provided by Uzbekistan to the Afghan people, the participation of the official Tashkent in the implementation of large infrastructure projects in this country, the activities of the international transport and logistics hub, the Education cluster in Termiz, as well as the international negotiation group established under the auspices of the UN at the initiative of the Uzbek leadership.
They emphasized that Afghanistan was an integral part of Central Asia, and that stable peace in this country was a guarantee of stability and prosperity of the entire region.
According to the opinions expressed by the officials of the UN Security Council, Uzbekistan is the main country in Central Asia for the implementation of the Paris Pact and the fight against Afghan drug trafficking. They noted that the scientific-research center for analysis and monitoring of the situation in Afghanistan, established in Uzbekistan, plays an important role in obtaining current statistical data on Afghan drug trafficking.
