Another syrup produced by an Indian firm Marion Biotech is said to have been withdrawn from sale after 19 children died after taking Doc-1 Max cough syrup produced by the said firm.

Allegedly, an internal memo signed by the director of the Pharmaceutical Network Development Agency S. Kariev,, surfaced on the Internet. Authenticity of the memo is not yet confirmed and it says that Ambronol syrup should also be withdrawn from sale in Uzbekistan pharmacies.

The memo instructs to take measures to withdraw Ambronol syrup from pharmacies immediately. Pharmacies are said to contact distributors who supply the drug. The memo was allegedly signed on December 29.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health began sending a text message through mobile operators with a request not to buy Doc-1 Max syrup.

“Do not buy Doc-1 Max! beware of the health of your children!” - the message says.
