Golden AK-74 assault rifle was found in a luggage of a passenger flying from Yekaterinburg to Tashkent. The rifle was seized by customs officials and was handed over for examination.
Reportedly, the man who was carrying the weapon to Uzbekistan as a gift tried to pass through the green corridor of the airport.
During the interrogation, the man told that the rifle had already been "delisted from the list of fire arms, it had been processed by jewelers, and he was taking it as a gift to a dear friend."
According to the Russian Federal Customs Service, the rifle was manufactured in 1974. Some parts of the weapon are covered with embossed gold, and some parts are made of precious wood. The price of such an item in the Russian market goes up to 500 thousand rubles, or USD 5,000.
It is noted that the Kalashnikov assault rifle was presented to experts to assess whether there is a possibility of restoring the combat characteristics of the weapon.
