Turkmenistan is gradually resuming gas exports to Uzbekistan, the Uztransgaz said. As reported earlier, Turkmenistan suspended gas supplies to Uzbekistan from January 12 for technical reasons caused by extreme cold.

According to information received from various sources, the reason for stopping the gas supply is the formation of hydrate in the infield pipelines of Galkynysh gas condensate field. This happens in severe cold and is a force majeure event.

However, from January 21, deliveries have been gradually resumed. According to Uztransgaz, Turkmenistan has resumed gas supply from 4.8 million cubic meters per day, and today it has increased the figure to 12.6 million cubic meters.

“Gradually, the daily supply volumes will increase to 16 million cubic meters. That is how much was supplied before the cold,” the company noted.

On January 19, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the largest gas field in the country, Galkynysh, where he got acquainted with the progress of its industrial development.

In December, for the first time, Uzbekistan concluded a direct, without the participation of a third party, short-term gas supply contract with Turkmenistan.
