Today, the Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay, whose delegation arrived in Uzbekistan as a partner organization, the Foreign Ministry said.
Reportedly, the Uzbek authorities considers the CICA as an important platform for strengthening dialogue for the sake of stability and promoting inclusive development in the vast Asian region.
Reportedly, in recent years, Uzbekistan had significantly stepped up its participation in the activities of this organization. The parties emphasized the importance of the comprehensive implementation of the initiatives announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the CICA summit in October 2022 in Astana to strengthen cooperation in the areas of regional stability, youth policy, ecology and food security.
Uzbekistan is the coordinator of the CICA confidence-building measures in the human dimension in 2020-2023 and the co-chair of the CICA Youth Council. The schedule of planned events under the auspices of the CICA was discussed, including the next meeting of the Youth Council, held in April this year in Samarkand.
