Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the president of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi on Sunday in Tehran. The day before he also held talks with the Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade of Iran/Co-Chair of the Uzbek-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission Reza Fatemi-Amin.
At the talks, the parties discussed the ways to advance the Uzbek-Iranian ties in the political and diplomatic, trade and investment, transport and logistics fields. They discussed the course of preparation for the joint events planned for the current year and exchange views on the effective use of the transport and communication capabilities of Uzbekistan and Iran to enhance economic diplomacy.
A business forum was held in Tehran with the participation of CEOs of major Iranian companies, during which issues of implementing joint investment projects in the fields of pharmaceuticals, the production of medical equipment and building materials, the chemical and textile industries, and agriculture were discussed.
During the visit, he also met with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khusrav Noziri and considered various aspects of regional cooperation within the ECO.
