Man was brought from Riga to Tashkent, who for a long time was on the international wanted list for fraud on an especially large scale, the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Uzbekistan said.
Reportedly, the man introduced himself as an employee of the US Embassy in Tashkent and offered services in processing documents and obtaining an US entry visa.
Even after leaving Uzbekistan, he used a fake passport of a foreign state and continued to offer the same services.
Despite the lengthy process of identifying the identity of the wanted person, recognizing his foreign passport as fake and personal data as invalid, thanks to the joint efforts of the NCB of Interpol in Tashkent and Riga, the criminal was identified and detained.
