On March 21, at 00:45 local time, an aircraft of the Danish cargo airline Maersk Air Cargo landed at Navoi International Airport, marking the launch of flights to Uzbekistan on the route Billund-Navoi-Hangzhou-Navoi-Billund.
Maersk Air Cargo flights started from six times a week with a further increase in flights to 36 times a week, Uzbekistan Airports said.
Boeing 767 cargo planes will fly from Denmark via Uzbekistan to China and back. Navoi airport will become a transfer point for technical landing, refueling and crew change of the airline's aircraft.
“This Navruz is rich in gifts. In one day, we welcomed planes from three airlines at once. Cooperation with the logistics group Maersk Group, which is a global giant in the field of cargo transportation, is a very important project for Uzbekistan Airports and Navoi Airport in particular. Negotiations were held for several months, conditions were discussed, and finally flights through Uzbekistan started on March 21,” said Rano Juraeva, CEO of Uzbekistan Airports.
Maersk Air Cargo is a Danish cargo airline headquartered in Billund, Denmark. The company was established in 2022 on the basis of the Star Air carrier, which is part of the Maersk logistics group.
