The new railway from China through Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will save seven days of transportation time, official of the Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan, Nurmat Musabekov told Birinchi Radio on April 6.
“One of the reasons to build the China-Uzbekistan railway is access to the major ports of the Yellow Sea,” he said.
According to the minister, groupage cargoes from Japan and China arrive at these ports, and then they are distributed and shipped around the world.
“Today, goods are being transported to Europe through the so-called northern port. From South Asia, the transportation of goods is currently carried out only through one route - through Russia and Kazakhstan through the Khorgos checkpoint by rail. The route that we offer will save the duration of transportation by 7 days. As they say, “time is money”, we will save time,” Musabekov commented.
In his opinion, the construction of this railway will play a big role in world trade, and will be beneficial not only for Uzbekistan, China and Kyrgyzstan, but also for other countries.
In 2022, an agreement was signed between Uzbekistan, China and Kyrgyzstan on the development of a feasibility study for the 280-km section of the Torugart-Arpa-Kosh-Dobo-Makmal-Jalal-Abad railway.
