On April 12-13, the first meeting of the Central Asian-Indian Joint Working Group on the joint use of the infrastructure of the Chabahar seaport (Iran) will take place in Mumbai, Dunyo reported.
The delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Transport Jasur Choriev will attend the conference. The agenda of the event included issues of speeding up cargo transportation through the North-South" international transport corridor, effective use of the Jawaharlal Nehru port in India and Chabahar port in Iran.
In order to further boost the trade between Central Asia and India, the parties are expected to consider the diversification of international routes, creation of Uzbekistan-Iran-India transport company for joint use of the infrastructure of Chabahar port, and provision of benefits in the process of transportation of goods from Uzbekistan.
The members of the Uzbekistan delegation, who arrived in Delhi, met with Rajesh Aurora, the managing director of the Indian GMR Group holding company. Rajesh Aurora said that the creating a transport-logistics center in Central Asia was being studied by the management of Aurora company, and expressed an opinion that in this process, establishing the joint effective use of the opportunities of Uzbekistan's airports will be a promising direction of cooperation.
He announced the plans to visit the capital Tashkent at the end of April in order to get acquainted with the prospects of expanding airports and developing their infrastructure in Uzbekistan, as well as to participate in the II Tashkent International Investment Forum.
