The EU-Uzbekistan Cooperation Council held its seventeenth meeting on Monday, 24 April 2023, in Luxembourg. The EU delegation was led by Tobias Billström, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, who chaired the meeting on behalf of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
Uzbekistan’s delegation was led by Bakhtiyor Odilovich Saidov, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Cooperation Council exchanged views on general and political matters, including internal and constitutional reforms, justice & home affairs, human rights and rule of law issues. It also discussed trade, economic and investment issues, including aspects related to Uzbekistan’s GSP+ status, WTO accession, connectivity, and energy.
The Cooperation Council touched on regional and international issues.
The previous meeting of the Cooperation Council between the European Union and Uzbekistan took place on 16 November 2021 in Brussels.
