At the Uzbekistan international airports of, the dual (green and red) corridor system for passengers flying to international destinations is canceled, the press service of the Customs Committee (CC) reported.

On August 11, the Cabinet of Ministers issued a resolution on the simplification of customs procedures. It says that after the introduction of a double corridor with random checks of passengers, the time spent on customs control has been reduced by three times. With the growth of the tourists flow at certain airports of the country, a system of remote customs control with visual observation has been launched, which further accelerated the process of crossing the border.

At airports, “corridors” began to operate from January 1, 2018, at other border crossing points - later.

Last spring, the president signed a decree on the introduction by the end of 2023 at all international airports of Uzbekistan of a remote customs control system based on the experience of Samarkand International Airport. In this regard, the system of a double corridor on departure will be scrapped, the Customs Committee said.

Remote customs control provides for the implementation of customs control and clearance based on the principle of selectivity and remote visual observation using a risk management system.

Places for customs clearance will be set up at airports, where customs officers will give clarifications on the execution of a customs declaration without affecting the movement of passengers, the committee noted.

The document notes that at international airports where a remote customs control system has been introduced, customs officers do not check individuals and their hand luggage, with some exceptions. This will be done only by the aviation security officers of the State Security Service, who, upon identifying goods restricted for export or exceeding the limit norms, as well as cash national and foreign currency, invite customs officials for verification. If a violation is detected, then customs officers draw up procedural documents.

Customs authorities can check individuals, their hand luggage and luggage in the following cases:

  • upon receipt of an order through the automated Risk Management system;
  • in the presence of information received from state bodies, as well as in foreign customs and other bodies, international organizations;
  • upon receipt of operational information about the violation of customs legislation by citizens.

The declaration of goods is carried out orally if goods are transported, the export of which is not prohibited or restricted in accordance with the law, the value and (or) quantity of which does not exceed the maximum norms and is not subject to customs payments, as well as cash national and foreign currency, which is not must be declared in writing.

If they have goods and currency subject to declaration, they fill out the passenger customs declaration and provide it to the customs officer.

“Now, when departing, the passenger will not see customs officers. Officers will oversee remotely through cameras,” the press service of the customs committee said.
