Aziz Voitov has been fired from the Minister of Agriculture role, a source in the government told the Tashkent Times on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the now former minister was in Kashkadarya province, where President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is visiting.
Aziz Voitov had served as minister since the end August 2022; prior to that, from March 2020, he worked as first deputy minister of investment and foreign trade under Sardor Umurzakov, who at that time was Deputy prime minister and head of the Minister of investment and foreign trade.
After Umurzakov was fired from his post as head of the Presidential Administration, many of the leaders with whom he worked began to leave their posts. Among them are Sunnatilla Bekenov, Furkat Rakhimov, Olimkhon Rustamov, Oybek Khamraev and others.
Messages surfaced on social networks that Aziz Voitov would be replaced by the governor of Tashkent province Zoyir Mirzaev, who was the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources in 2016-2018. The provincial governor’s office denied these reports and said that Mirzaev continues to serve as the governor.
