In mid-October, EastFruit reported on the resumption of the growing trend in the dynamics of wholesale prices for tomatoes in Uzbekistan and, as predicted by analysts of the international platform, prices for this product continued to rise. After a week-long pause, wholesale prices for tomatoes rose again – over the past week, the pink tomato increased by 50%, and the red round tomato – by 43%.

According to EastFruit’s price monitoring, from October 20 to 27, 2023, the average wholesale price for a pink tomato in Uzbekistan increased from 12,000 to 18,000 sums/kg (from $0.98 to $1.47). Considering that the growing trend in wholesale prices for this product has been maintained since the beginning of October, over the month, the average wholesale price for a pink tomato increased from 7,000 to 18,000 sums/kg (from $0.57 to $1.47), i.e. by 2.6 times.

As can be seen from the graph, over the past three months, the average wholesale price for this product has exceeded last year’s levels for the first time, albeit only by 6%.

Over the past week, wholesale prices for red round tomatoes also rose sharply, from October 20 to 27, 2023, the average wholesale price for this product increased from 7,000 to 10,000 sums/kg (from $0.57 to $0.82). Considering that prices for this product have been growing for the third week in a row, over this period, the average wholesale price for a red round tomato in Uzbekistan increased from 4,000 to 10,000 sums/kg (from $0.33 to $0.82), i.e. by 2.5 times.

From the end of July to early October of this year, wholesale prices for red round tomatoes were significantly lower than last year’s levels, but since the resumption of the growing trend, this gap has been rapidly narrowing. As of October 27, 2023, the average wholesale price for this product was 17% lower than last year’s level.
