President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of France Emmanuel Macron inaugurated a new branch of the French Alliance in Samarkand.

This non-governmental, non-profit organization that promotes the French language and culture was founded in Paris in 1883 by the initiative of Jules Verne and Louis Pasteur. Today, more than 800 branches of the French Alliance are operating in 137 countries of the world.

The first branch of the Alliance in our country was opened in 2015 in Tashkent, to replace the Cultural Center the France. In order to further expand bilateral exchanges in the field of culture and language, another branch was recently established in the city of Samarkand.

During the visit, the heads of state ceremonially cut the ribbon and opened the Alliance.

The leaders got acquainted with the modernly equipped center. French language and literature courses are being offered here and voiced the confidence that the activities of the Alliance in Samarkand will serve to bring our peoples closer together and strengthen their friendship.
