Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health commented on reports of a sharp increase in the number of children infected with measles in Namangan province.

340 places have been created in the province for inpatient treatment of patients with suspected measles, of which 240 treatment places are in the provincial infectious diseases hospital, 100 places are in Beshkapa children's resort.

Currently, 235 patients are being treated in the provincial infectious diseases hospital, while 5 more beds are available, 20 patients over two years old are being treated in the children's sanatorium, another 80 beds are reserved. Of the 255 patients, 62% are children under the age of 1 year, 25% are aged 1-3 years.

“Today the province has a sufficient supply of diagnostic tools, reagents and vaccines,” the committee noted.

9,500 doses of measles and rubella vaccine were transferred to the Namangan province; a total of 1,936 children were vaccinated against measles according to epidemiological recommendations. Currently, vaccination rooms at health care institutions have a stock of 310 doses of measles and rubella vaccine.

In just 10 months of this year, 735 cases of measles were officially confirmed in the province. Data for other provinces are not provided. For comparison: in January-July, 164 cases of this disease were registered throughout Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, in November, 3 million doses of measles vaccine were purchased from the state budget. These vaccines are intended for vaccination of children aged 6 months to 5 years who are at risk and have been in contact with someone with measles. Doses are distributed among the provinces of Uzbekistan.
