Open court hearing was held at the Fergana district criminal court on Friday to consider the criminal case against Olimjon Khaidarov, 34, a blogger, director of Turon Mujdasi and Turon Valley Media companies, with no criminal record.
Chairman of the Fergana district criminal court announced the verdict:
Citizen O. Khaidarov was found guilty of committing crimes under Slander combined with an accusation of committing a grave or especially grave crime charge, Insult in connection with the performance by the victim of his official or civil duty charge and the Extortion committed on a large scale charge, and was sentenced to 8 years in prison in a general regime colony.
Also the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement was instructed to ensure the deletion (blocking) of all channels, pages and groups belonging to Khaidarov after the verdict took effect.
While today, Olimjon Khaidarov would file an appeal against the ruling, his younger brother, Salimjon Khaidarov said.
