The president signed a bill into law amending the election-related regulations. Now the number of females must be at least 40% of the number of candidates nominated by a political party in single-mandate electoral districts.

The law implies that:

• 75 single-mandate electoral districts shall be formed for electing MPs to the Legislative Chamber;

• elections to the Legislative Chamber based on the list of candidates nominated by political parties shall be held in Uzbekistan as a single electoral district;

• after registering candidates, the candidates shall receive the status of MPs and certificates;

• candidates in the list may be members of a political party and may be independent. Members of other political parties cannot be included in the list;

• procedure for selecting candidates and MPs shall be defined by political parties;

• women must make up at least 40% of the number of candidates from a political party in a single-mandate electoral district and the party's main list. While, at least two out of five candidates, according to the sequence in the list of parties, must be females.

The seats of MPs of the Legislative Chamber, elected in a single electoral district, shall be distributed among political parties that receive 7% or more of votes. If only one party receives more than 7% of votes, and the second party with the most votes shall also get parliamentary seats.

The Central Election Commission shall draw up a protocol on distribution of party mandates.
