Tashkent public transport will get two hydrogen buses (hydrobuses) as part of a pilot project with the Saudi company ACWA Power, the Ministry of Energy said.
At the end of November, president Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched the construction of a pilot green hydrogen production unit in Tashkent province. As part of the project, implemented with the participation of ACWA Power, at 3,000 tons of hydrogen will be produced at phase I with further processing into mineral fertilizers. The facility will be located in Chirchik at the existing ammonia production plant.
As reported in June 2022, Uzbekistan sought to develop an experimental prototype of a vehicle running on hydrogen using ammonia and hydrogen fuel cells.
