President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the production cluster of the Defense Industry Agency in the Tashkent province Thursday. Uzbekistan is actively reforming and modernizing the national armed forces, including the creation of training grounds and updating infrastructure to improve the combat training of troops, the presidential press service said.

The country has also focused on the modernization of the defense industry. It is for these purposes that in January last year Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to transfer the Defense Industry Agency to the Ministry of Defense and take the necessary measures to further develop the Agency.

The Agency has launched systematic work to master the production of types of military-technical products, acquire and supply modern military equipment to the troops, as well as modernize existing weapons.

Large-scale construction work, major overhaul and reconstruction of existing facilities were conducted at several technical units of the Ministry of Defense. An equipment repair plant and a central storage base for automotive equipment of the Ministry of Defense were transferred to the cluster territory.

The new cluster has integrated enterprises with interconnected repair shops. They specialize in the repair and modernization of military equipment, including radar systems, optical and electro-optical instruments, small arms and artillery weapons, and precision metal processing.

In order to achieve the objectives of the widespread introduction of “green” technologies into industry, including defense, and in order to save electricity, solar panels were installed on the territory of the cluster enterprises. Modernized samples of military equipment are presented, including the “Soldier of the Future” group complex.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev launched the production of new types of military products and set tasks to expand the production capabilities of defense industry enterprises.
