President Shavkat Mirziyoyev began his state visit to China with a meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang, the presidential press service said.

The parties reportedly addressed the ways to further expand multifaceted cooperation, primarily in the trade and economic areas.

They emphasized that the Uzbek-Chinese ties had reached an unprecedented level in all areas and areas.

Last year, the two-way trade increased by 50%, reaching $14 billion. The parties said that this figure could be increased to $20 billion, including by increasing mutual supplies of agricultural and industrial goods.

The total volume of Chinese investments in the Uzbek economy has exceeded $14 billion.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Li Qiang discussed the preparation of separate cooperation programs in the field of infrastructure modernization, expansion of industrial cooperation, technology transfer in agriculture and the development of “green” energy.

While, the parties considered prospects for interaction with banking and financial institutions of China, as well as the participation of Chinese companies in privatization processes in Uzbekistan and spoke in favor of further expansion of air traffic and tourist exchanges.

In anticipation of the visit, the first Uzbek-Chinese regional forum and industrial exhibition were held in Urumqi on January 22. These days, an educational forum and Days of Uzbek Culture in China are also held.

Negotiations between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping are scheduled on the same day.
