The 2024 state program includes the item: Uzbekneftgaz will produce 29.3 billion cubic meters (BCM) of natural gas in 2024, with a number of geological and technical measures scheduled to this end.
In particular, 95 new wells will be drilled, well workover envisaged at 81 wells, and 42 technological measures will be implemented.
Decline in Uzbekneftgaz’s gas production figures in recent years
The company produced 33.9 BCM of natural gas in 2021 and 32.2 BCM in 2022. If the forecast of 29.3 BCM in 2024 is taken into account, the company will have reduced gas production by 13.6% in 3 years.
The 2023 figures have not been officially announced yet, but Uzbekneftgaz has downgraded its natural gas production forecast for this year twice last year.
At first, at the end of 2022, company officials said that in 2023, it is planned to produce 34.1 BCM of gas, including 1.8 BCM due to geological exploration. But in February (2023), the forecast was downgraded to 32.8 BCM, and in August to 32.3 BCM.
Gas production in Uzbekistan declines for the fifth year in a row

According to the statistics agency, in 2021, 53.8 BCM of gas were produced, while this indicator decreased to 51.7 BCM in 2022, and 46.7 BCM in 2023.
In general, for five years in a row, the gas production in Uzbekistan has been showing a downward trend. Official statistics recorded a 10 percent drop in January 2020, 4.4 percent in January 2021, 2.4 percent in January 2022, 7.5 percent in January 2023, and 7.4 percent in January 2024.
