Deputies of the Tashkent province approved the transfer of part of the province’s territory to Tashkent’s “New Tashkent” district on March 13.
19,729.41 hectares (8.51 hectares more than it was planned earlier) of land are being provided for the New Tashkent project in the Yukorichirchik (17,323.31 hectares instead of 17,314.8 hectares) and Urtachirchik (2,406 hectares) districts of Tashkent province.
These areas will become part of the 13th district of the capital - New Tashkent, which will include 33 mahallas from the Yukorichirchik district (20 - completely, 13 - partially) and 7 mahallas from the Urtachirchik district (4 - completely and 3 - partially).
The lands are being transferred without changing their current land fund categories.
The changes will take effect after the adoption of the resolution of the chambers of the parliament.
In March 2023, president Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a capsule marking the launch of the New Tashkent district project.
In September last year, the head of state approved the combined project of Tashkent and New Tashkent, developed by the British Cross Works. “Yes, we call it New Tashkent, but tomorrow it should also update old Tashkent. They must become one blood, one artery,” said the head of the construction directorate, Davronjon Adilov.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that it was important to start the New Tashkent project, because in five years it would be “impossible to live in the capital.”
