Uzbekistan and France are currently negotiating six new energy projects valued at $1.8 billion, the Ministry of Energy said.

The expansion was the central topic of discussion during a high-level meeting between Uzbekistan's Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, the Chairman of the Uzbek-French Business Council at MEDEF International Claude Imauven, and the French Ambassador Walid Fouque.

French enterprises are already executing three major energy infrastructure projects in Uzbekistan totaling approximately $2 billion. With the inclusion of these six new initiatives, the total value of the bilateral energy cooperation portfolio has surpassed $4 billion.

During the talks, the parties reviewed the ongoing operations of Électricité de France (EDF). The French state-backed utility is currently constructing combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants in the Syrdarya and Surkhandarya provinces, which will deliver a combined generating capacity exceeding 3.1 GW.

Concurrently, French energy firms TotalEnergies and Voltalia are advancing their respective portfolios in solar and wind power generation, alongside grid-scale battery storage systems. The discussions also highlighted expanding cooperation into several emerging fields, including power grid modernization, gas transport infrastructure development, sector-wide digitalization, engineering services, and technical workforce training.
