President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, while touring the Namangan region, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for new power plant projects, the presidential press service said.

Today, Namangan has 913 megawatts of generating capacity. Over the past three years, power consumption has increased by 24% and continues to grow.

Therefore, three projects were designed for the region, totaling $1.1 billion and with a total capacity of 1,228 MW. This is a cascade of hydroelectric power plants and two solar power plants.

The Uzbekhydroenergo will build a cascade of 6 hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 228 MW on the Naryn River in the Uychi district worth of $434 million. As a result, 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity will be produced per year, which will save 310 million cubic meters of gas and provide electricity to 430 thousand households.

These hydroelectric power plants are expected to be erected using equipment and technologies produced in Uzbekistan.

German Hyper Partners will build a 500 MW solar power plant in the Pap district. The project cost is at $350 million, the annual capacity of the plant is 1 billion 95 million kilowatt-hours.

Another 500 MW $350 million solar power plant will be built in Pap city by Tepelen Group Holding from the United Arab Emirates.

At the ceremony, Shavkat Mirziyoyev pressed a symbolic button and launched of these projects.

It noteworthy that in 2025 it is planned to launch power storage systems with a total capacity of 200 MW in the Pap and Uychi districts. These projects will help balance the unified energy system during periods of increased consumption and ensure a stable supply of electricity to consumers.

In the same year, 2.6 GW of power will be connected to the network as part of the construction of 14 solar and wind plants.
