President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted a US Congress delegation including Steve Daines, Mike Rogers, Adam Smith, Salud Carbajal, and Veronica Escobar, the presidential press service said.
The parties explored the ways to enhance the Uzbek-U.S. strategic partnership ties. Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly commended the inter-parliamentary cooperation, in particular the Uzbekistan Caucus in the US Congress.
The two-way trade between Uzbekistan and the United States in 2023 increased by 30%. The parties underscored the growing number of US companies in Uzbekistan, including, for example, Air Products, which is implementing over $10 billion worth of projects.
The parties focused on continuing active interaction with the states of Montana, Alabama, Washington, California and Texas. Promising areas of cooperation include education, agriculture, digital technologies, mining, green energy, pharmaceuticals, food industry and others.
An agreement was reached on organizing business missions of US states to Uzbekistan.
They also exchanged views on current international and regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
