Yunusabad market in Yunusabad district is planned to be rebuilt to become six-storied. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this at a session of the capital’s deputies council on Wednesday.
Due to extremely limited space in Tashkent, it is necessary to develop industry and trade through the vertical growth of the existing infrastructure, he said.
“For example, the Yunusabad market, located on 4.8 hectares, does not have enough air due to the fact that it is one-story. Chairman of Aloqabank [Kammuna] Irisbekova, foreign investors proposed to rebuild [the market] with two floors underground and six floors above ground, invest $40 million and create 2,500 jobs,” the president said in a story on the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel "
While, in the Yunusabad district small industrial zone with 91 buildings on 16.5 hectares, it is also possible to expand the area, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. In particular, 77 thousand buildings will be rebuilt into 3-4 floors to create an additional 200 thousand sqm.
