Voting on the Initiative Budget projects for the first season of 2024 ended on the Open Budget portal on Thursday. According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Uzbeks cast 11.7 million votes, which is far less than the record 18.1 million votes last season, since the principle of One person - One vote was launched this year.
35,575 initiatives were received from residents of 9,443 neighbourhoods, of which 28,919 were approved.
2,770 projects from 2,254 neighbourhoods were selected as winners (last time there were 1,187). It is scheduled to contribute 3.3 trillion soums (from 1.31 trillion soums) from local budgets for their implementation.
In addition, the ministry is probing projects in the Kyzyltepa district, where previously the deputy district mayor, Ulmas Istamov, forced the heads of organizations to collect votes. For this reason, the winners in this area will be announced after examination.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov congratulated the winners and thanked citizens for their active participation.
