The Uzbek IT sector's $1.7bn share, or 2.1% of the GDP, in 2023 testifies to the high added value generated by the sector, the Statistics Agency said in a report.

Comparing to the previous year, there has been a notable increment of 0.2% in the share of the information and communication sector in the gross domestic product, showcasing a steady growth trajectory in this crucial segment of the economy.

The Tashkent city emerged as the frontrunner, exhibiting the highest proportion of the IT sector's contribution to the gross regional product, standing at an impressive 8.6%.

Currently, the IT technologies stand out as one of the fastest-expanding sectors in the global economy. It not only propels economic advancement but also serves as a catalyst for substantial alterations in economic procedures across various sectors.
