Today, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke to the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a telephone conversation, the presidential press service said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed condolences and words of support to the leader and people of Kazakhstan due to the casualties as a result of major floods in Kazakhstan.

He emphasized that such natural disasters were the consequences of the climate change. The parties agreed to continue close cooperation in this area.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan for their fraternal solidarity and assistance in connection with floods in a number of regions of Kazakhstan, the Akorda press service said. Earlier, on April 20, 15 trucks with 100 tons of humanitarian aid worth 10 billion soums were sent from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan for residents of areas affected by floods.

The two leaders also discussed the ways to expand the Uzbek-Kazakh ties of good neighborliness, strategic partnership and alliance ties in the context of the implementation of agreements reached during a recent working meeting in Khiva.
