Switzerland will host a global Peace Formula Summit at the level of heads of states in June, initiated by Ukraine. At the summit, the world community will try to find a way out of the crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Peace Formula presented by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in November 2022 is expected to serve as the foundation for the peaceful settlement.

The Ukraine’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Nikolai Doroshenko met with journalists to brief about the Peace Formula and invited Uzbekistan to attend the summit, which will discuss steps to swiftly put an end to the war.

According to Nikolai Doroshenko, 150 states will receive invitations to participate, including countries of the Global South, Africa, South America, as well as Uzbekistan and other countries of Central Asia.

According to the Ambassador, at least 82 states are considering the opportunity to take part in this event, whose representatives have already participated in the meeting of advisers on national security and foreign policy, held on January 14 in Davos, Switzerland. First of all, we are talking about the G7 (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Japan and the USA).

The purpose of the summit is to create a platform for discussing the peace process and to give a high-level political start to the preparation of a joint treaty framework that should restore peace in Ukraine.

“Based on all previous discussions, we intend to develop a common peace plan supported by all countries, which will subsequently be presented to the Russian Federation,” the Ukrainian ambassador said.

The first summit will reaffirm the principles that most countries of the world agree with - for example, the inadmissibility of the use of nuclear weapons and the safety of nuclear facilities, ensuring free navigation in the Black and Azov Seas for food security in the world, the need for an urgent resolution of humanitarian issues, in particular the exchange of prisoners and the return to Ukraine of illegally detained, deported and displaced persons, including children.

“The inaugural global peace summit must reaffirm the commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of states within their internationally recognized borders, the need to restore a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine on the basis of the UN Charter and key principles of international law,” Nikolai Doroshenko emphasized.
