President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday received the Secretary General of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai in Samarkand, UzA reported.
The head of UNWTO arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in Sharq Taronalari music festival and Central Asian Renaissance in The History of World Civilization conference.
Greeting the guest, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the dynamic and fruitful cooperation with the UN’s organization in the field of tourism.
The counterparts discussed issues of expanding cooperation, in particular, popularization of tourism in Uzbekistan and the Central Asia, development of new types of tourism and popular tourist products and creation of a world class tourism infrastructure.
Taleb Rifai said that the World Tourism Organization intends to actively support and participate in programs and projects for the development of tourism in Uzbekistan.
