32.4 thousand EV charging stations will be installed in Uzbekistan in 2024-2025. This is envisaged by the Cabinet of Ministers’ November 1 Resolution on the expansion of infrastructure for EVs use.

Most of the stations are scheduled to be installed in parking lots near apartment buildings - 7,864 this year and 15,729 next year. 1,266 stations are expected to be erected in hotels this year and 2,532 next year. 1,017 stations will be installed in parking lots of social facilities and government agencies by the end of the year and 2,033 in 2025.

From February 1, at least 5% of parking spaces in government buildings that are now being designed, shopping and business districts, leisure and recreation venues, gas stations, as well as infrastructure facilities on international and national highways must be equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles.

From now on, when developing urban planning documents for populated areas, upgrading, reconstructing and repairing high- and low-voltage electrical networks, the installation of charging stations and their load on the unified electric power system must be taken into account.

In the territory of apartment buildings, as well as in parking lots near apartment buildings, it will be envisaged to install stations with a maximum capacity of 22 kW.

It is expected that the prices for charging an electric vehicle will vary depending on the time of day. A proposal on this should be developed within a month.

Businesses shall be granted the right to install charging stations only in the parking lots of apartment buildings.

Places for installing stations will be put up for sale or rent through the K-Savdo electronic auction with the right to use for up to 120 months.

If the winner of the auction fails to install stations on the leased site within six months, the site (or real estate or part of it) will be put up for auction again.

The Interior Ministry has been instructed to install road signs in places where charging stations for electric vehicles are available by the end of the year.

The December 2022 presidential decree stipulated that from 2024 all newly constructed shopping and business centers, entertainment and recreation areas, gas stations, hotels and infrastructure facilities along international and national highways must be equipped with charging stations.

In June, at the government meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, plans were discussed to introduce reduced night tariffs for electricity in order to stimulate charging of electric vehicles at home.
