President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made remarks at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit to the escalation in Palestine and Lebanon, the presidential press service said.

"To our great regret, since the historic meeting in Riyadh in 2023, this unjust and bloody war has stepped up in scale," Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored.

“Despite decisive actions and calls from the international community, the international norms and resolutions continue to be grossly violated. We are all extremely shocked that the flames of war have now engulfed the territory of Lebanon," Shavkat Mirziyoyev added.

"The destructive and monstrous attacks that have resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent children, women and the elderly will become the darkest page in the new history of mankind. It is impossible to calmly and painlessly watch as social infrastructure facilities, schools, hospitals, mosques, entire cities being destroyed, millions of civilians being left homeless, forced to suffer from hunger and disease,” said the Uzbek leader.

“The worst thing, and we are witnesses to this, is that double standards are used in relation to this tragedy in the international arena. This dramatically increases the likelihood of escalation and poses a serious threat to international security,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that the country “fully supports initiatives aimed at resolving the Palestinian-Israeli problem by peaceful and diplomatic means.”

“We believe that today's summit will demonstrate a common political will and unity in this, effective mechanisms and specific solutions will be developed and immediately implemented at the global and regional levels,” he underscored.

First of all, this is about a radical increase in the role and influence of the UN and the Security Council in resolving this long-standing conflict, the head of state explained. "It is advisable that the issues of an immediate cessation of hostilities, ensuring safe humanitarian corridors and, most importantly, the beginning of peace negotiations be the focus of constant attention of this universal international structure," the President of Uzbekistan emphasized.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev reminded that on November 15, the Palestinian people will celebrate their national holiday - the Day of the Proclamation of the State of Palestine.

"I am convinced that this people, with an ancient and rich history, has every right for an independent and free state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the 1967 borders. In this regard, we fully support the activities of the Global Alliance for a Two-State Solution, organized at the initiative of Saudi Arabia," the head of Uzbekistan said.

He also emphasized that in order to prevent a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Palestine and Lebanon, the countries participating in the summit must expand the scale of assistance - both their own and within the framework of leading international organizations.

"We are in favor of increasing the necessary support for the activities of the Special Agency and other UN institutions with extensive experience," the president said.

"We voice our readiness to provide free treatment in Uzbekistan's clinics to Palestinian children and women who suffered from the war," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

"We also intend to discuss issues of providing practical assistance to the people of Palestine at the Gulf States - Central Asia summit next year in Samarkand," the head of state said.

In addition, the leader of Uzbekistan emphasized that within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, great attention should be paid to issues of ensuring the inviolability and careful preservation of the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque and other unique historical and cultural monuments of Jerusalem.
