The Center for Progressive Reforms (CPR) is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the international conference, “Results of the Parliamentary Elections in Uzbekistan: International Assessment and Pathway to Reforms.” This event will serve as a platform for in-depth analysis of the election results, discussions on public expectations, and reflections on recommendations from international observers.

It will also examine the broader political and institutional implications of the elections for Uzbekistan's development.

The October 2024 parliamentary elections marked a pivotal moment in Uzbekistan’s reform process. These elections not only determined the composition of the Legislative Chamber, the Senate, and local councils but also introduced a mixed electoral system for the first time. By combining majority and proportional representation, this new framework aimed to broaden political participation and better align the electoral process with public sentiment.

The conference will host expert-led discussions on key issues, including the outcomes of the elections, evolving political dynamics, and the role of Uzbekistan’s parliament in advancing sustainable development, shaping foreign policy, and implementing critical reforms. Particular attention will be given to the implications of the mixed electoral system and its potential to influence Uzbekistan’s future political landscape.

This event promises to foster a constructive dialogue among policymakers, academics, civil society representatives, and international experts, contributing to a deeper understanding of Uzbekistan's reform trajectory and democratic aspirations.
