At a government meeting, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a new Tashkent subway extension project, the presidential press service said.
The meeting discussed the plan to extend the Chilanzar line farther to the Tashkent Tractor Plant (TTP). Earlier in March, the draft plan was first announced to extend the Tashkent subway line from the Pushkin station to TTP. Later, the Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov said that the ground section of the extension would run along the railway tracks from the Pushkin station to the Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and then go underground.
During previous discussions, the president gave directives to improve the project in terms of costs and convenience.
According to the prepared proposal, the project will be implemented in two phases. In phase I, a ground line will be erected along the existing railway tracks from the Pushkin station of the Chilanzar line to the Feruza area in Mirzo-Ulugbek district. In phase II, the line will be extended to the TTZ coach station.
Currently, about 47 thousand cars enter the city center from this direction daily, carrying a total of 194 thousand passengers. It is expected that the new extension will serve 85 thousand passengers per day.
The technical and practical aspects of the project were examined in detail during the presentation.
