The Presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh today held one-to-one talks and with the participation of official delegations in Ulaanbaatar, the presidentail press service said.
At the beginning of the talks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that his state visit to Mongolia was the first in the history of bilateral ties and would open a new stage for the development of Uzbek-Mongolian ties.
The two leaders commended the increase in two-way trade and the increase in joint ventures, the implementation of the first projects in healthcare, education, e-commerce, agriculture, and the production of building materials began.
The day before, a joint business forum was held in Mongolia with the participation of business circles and industry departments of the two countries, and a trading house with a showroom of Uzbek products was opened in Ulaanbaatar.
During the talks, the parties also focused on the ways to deepen economic cooperation, pointing to the huge untapped potential for a the trade in the coming years, primarily due to the expansion of the range and volume of supplies of popular products.
To this end, they emphasized the importance of expediting the adoption of on preferential trade and investment protection treaties
Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke in favor of deepening industrial cooperation. First of all, in the mining sector, including the development of a geological exploration program, the development of raw material deposits, technology transfer, exchange of experience and personnel training. In this context, he highlighted the opening of a representative office of the Ministry of Geology of Uzbekistan in Ulaanbaatar to promote projects in this industry.
He voiced interest in deepening comprehensive cooperation in agriculture based on the creation of joint clusters and the promotion of cooperation projects for the processing and production of meat and dairy, wool and leather products.
The parties also touched upon enhancing transport interconnectivity and developing new logistics routes, outlining plans to launch direct flights between the capitals before the year-end.
The Uzbek leader proposed to conduct applied research to determine the shortest and most efficient transport corridors jointly with the International Analytical Institute for Landlocked Countries.
He also emphasized the importance of continuing active cultural and humanitarian exchanges. These days, Ulaanbaatar is hosting Days of Uzbek Culture, events in the field of art and tourism.
