A working group headed by the transport attorney Ikrom Narimov studied the progress of reconstruction work on the Uzbekistan’s Independence 30th Anniversary Circle Line, the Attorney General's Office said.

Repair work on the site between the Tekhnopark and Kipchak stations was inspected with the participation of the customer Uzbekistan Railways and the contractor Kuprikkurilish, the statement said.

The probe found a number of shortcomings and errors, and the responsible organizations were given specific directives to rectify them swiftly, perform the work in full compliance with the project and complete it efficiently within the established time frame, the Attorney General's Office said.

Ensuring the transparency of construction work, passenger safety and sustainability of transport infrastructure have been defined as the priority, the Office said adding that the work was under constant control.

The subway’s authorities reported of scheduled preventive maintenance on the line, which includes 14 stations. The last two stations were closed on June 8, and seven more stations will be closed on June 28.

The subway's statement says: Based on international experience, in order to ensure the safety of train and passenger traffic, as well as to improve the quality of service on new sections of the subway after a certain period of operation, it is necessary to carry out scheduled preventive maintenance.

The construction of the Circle Line began in 2017. It partially follows the route of the former tram line. Initially, it was planned to launch a city commuter train. The first stage of 7 stations (stations 1-7) was opened in September 2020. Another 5 stations (8-12) were launched in April 2023. All stations were inaugurated without names - only with numerical designations. Only in August 2023, the government approved their names. The two final stations of the line - Kipchak and Turon - were opened in March 2024.
