Biogas-to-methane pilot plant project is planned to be launched in Uzbekistan, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change said.

The Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov and the CEO of the Japanese agreed to draft and sign a bilateral agreement to launch the project.

Le One Haruki Yamasaki announced it received $4 million in a grant from the Japan Energy and Industry Development Organization (NEDO). Financial support was provided as part of an international demonstration program aimed at promoting advanced technologies in the field of decarbonization and green energy.

“The initiative is aimed at achieving several environmental and economic goals at once: reducing greenhouse gas emissions, safe waste disposal, producing vermicompost for use in agriculture, as well as introducing a hybrid circulation technology with chemical washing and a deep cleaning system based on Japanese standards,” the ministry added.

Biogas will be used as an alternative energy source, which will reduce the burden on the environment and create an additional energy-efficient waste management model.

Earlier, Uzbekistan vowed to launch a hazardous industrial waste management project together with companies from Saudi Arabia and France.
