The Russian Peace Foundation has nominated President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon for the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize for “their significant contribution to ensuring universal and equal security based on the rule of international law, building a multipolar world, strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between peoples”. This was stated in a letter from the Chairman of the Board of the Foundation/Chief of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky to the jury of the prize.

In his address, he stressed that on March 31, 2025, at the first summit of the leaders of the three states in Khujand, historic agreements - the agreement on the junction point of the borders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and the Khujand Declaration on Eternal Friendship were signed, which will serve to ensure the goals of stability and sustainable development, increasing the international authority of the entire region.

The Russian Peace Foundation proposes to mark this important historical event and nominate for the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for their contribution to the construction of a multipolar world and the strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation between peoples," Slutsky said in his address.

He emphasized that thanks to the efforts of the leaders of these countries, the Eurasia is more secure, the dialogue between the Central Asian states continues on the idea of creating a visa-free zone and increasing the tourist attractiveness of the region.
