The Uzbek Ambassador Ilhom Haydarov held talks with the Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat. During the meeting, the parties discussed the ways to advance bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The parties stressed that in 2024, the two-way trade between the countries reached $ 3 billion and pointed to the need to take all measures to bring this figure to $ 5 billion in the next 2 years.
"There are reserves and opportunities to achieve this target. The goods range of Uzbekistan and Turkey in trade is quite similar, and the products produced are equally competitive abroad. Turkey has signed a preferential trade deal with Uzbekistan, along with Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Iran. By using the opportunities of this document, we will achieve the set plans," the Turkish Minister Bolat said.
The parties also focused on the barriers faced by local exporting enterprises, including the reduction of additional import duties on electrical, textile, and cable products, and the lifting of restrictions on the import of certain types of fruits and vegetables.
At the end of talks, the parties agreed to set up Turkish laboratories providing inspection, certification, testing, and control services in Uzbekistan.
