New version of the Rental Law will be adopted in Uzbekistan, was announced Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting with business leaders today.
According to the Uzbek leader, the current law, adopted in 1991, has mainly protected the interests of government bodies. A new version of the law will be prepared in the near future, which will ensure equal protection of the rights of landlords and tenants.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that business people needed additional space, but rapidly changing rent conditions affect their future plans. From 2026, state-owned assets will be leased for a period of five years. The contract will be terminated only at the initiative of the tenant or in the event of failure to perform obligations.
1.1 trillion soums have been allocated for the swift development of 16 districts this year. The World Bank has recognized the effectiveness of this approach and provided additional funding in the amount of 250 million dollars, Mirziyoyev said.
In 2026, using another $500 million, similar programs will be implemented in 30 districts. This will expand opportunities for entrepreneurs in industry, services, and construction, and create hundreds of thousands of jobs, Mirziyoyev concluded.
