Today in the morning the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Chairman of China Xi Jinping in Beijing, the presidential press service said.

Reportedly, the parties discussed the ways to deepen the Uzbek Chinese ties and enhancing cooperation.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev reiterated the timeliness and relevance of the Global Governance Initiative of the Chinese President. The day before, at the SCO Plus summit in Tianjin, Xi Jinping called on all countries of the world, regardless of size and authority, to work together to create a fairer and more reasonable system of global governance, which, according to him, "has found itself at a crossroads."

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Xi Jinping underscored that the two countries had made a "major leap forward" in bilateral ties in recent years, noting an increase in contacts at all levels, strengthening of political dialogue and mutual support on key issues.

Last year, the bilateral trade between the two countries surpassed $14 billion, having already grown by another 23% year-to-date year. The parties intend to increase the figure to $20 billion through of industrial and agricultural goods. The portfolio of investment projects has now topped $60 billion, with $10 billion worth of 64 projects launched in 2024 alone.

Ahead of Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit of the President of Uzbekistan, a bilateral business forum of the two countries was held in China. It worked out projects in the field of "green" energy and increasing energy efficiency, modernization and digitalization of public transport, construction of toll roads, deep processing of critical minerals, as well as in the field of chemistry, water and agriculture, tourism and urban development.

The two leaders discussed the continuation of expert assistance in the implementation of joint activities aimed at eradicating poverty in Uzbekistan based on Chinese experience.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to set up an Uzbek-Chinese AI development center to promote innovative projects and train specialists.

The parties intend to expand partnership in science, medicine, education and tourism. This year, the second Education Forum will take place in Uzbekistan. They expressed support for expanding the study of the Chinese language and increasing quotas for the education of Uzbek youth in China, as well as for the development of Confucius Institutes.

These days, Uzbekistan is represented at a large exhibition at the National Museum of China. In 2027, it is planned to hold art exhibitions in Shanghai and Beijing.

The heads of state also noted the importance of continuing coordination and mutual support within the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Central Asia-China format and other multilateral platforms.

On September 3, the President of Uzbekistan will attend festivities on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in World War II in Beijing.
