Presidential Foreign Policy Advisor Abdulaziz Kamilov commented on Uzbekistan's relations with human rights organizations in the US and Europe on the Davra podcast on the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.

The podcast host stated that the West had frequently raised human rights and democracy in its negotiations with Uzbekistan and inquired about the current situation.

Abdulaziz Kamilov underscored that these issues remained on the agenda, but, according to him, the US currently wree raising them less frequently.

"Democratic reforms cannot be stopped. The more a country develops, the more vigorously this process continues. There will of course be shortcomings on this path. It's fair to say that the United States has taken a pause and is raising such pressing issues less frequently," the presidential advisor said.

According to Abdulaziz Kamilov, Uzbekistan's doors remain open to European human rights organizations.

"But we must understand that Europe is Europe; nothing has changed there." European human rights organizations are very well-developed. We are not closing our doors to them. They are welcome to come and give us advice. If it suits us, of course, we will cooperate. If it doesn't, if it doesn't fit our mentality and our traditions, we won't accept it. But we have absolutely no taboos," he said.

Abdulaziz Kamilov also underscored that the positions of Tashkent and Washington on a number of regional and global issues are becoming more convergent.

"Today, the views of [US] President Trump and ours, our relations and positions on regional and international issues, are becoming increasingly closer," he noted.

Uzbeks admit that the corruption has also become part of their traditions and mentality. According to Kamilov we should not address issues of corruption as it also contradicts our traditions.
